LET THERE BE LIGHT
With military style precision Illuminated Records have signed a brace of new acts and start a new, all out, Autumn offensive this month. With releases already upon us from the Poison Girls - as mentioned in last week's news pages - metal merchants Sledgehammer and Data, the label has snapped up 23 Skidoo (above) and 'Wild Planet' participants 400 Blows and Portion Control.

With Data already doing extremely well in the New York clubs and having signed to Virgin in Germany news filters through that they're climbing the charts in Italy, where the group have just done a string of TV appearances. Following in the dancefloor mould Portion Control. 400 Blows and 23 Skidoo all have mutant disco offerings in the can - Skidoo are rumoured to have recorded theirs with ex-Linx man Sketch - and Dormannu will be following their much touted 'Powered Lover' in similar vein.

Not content to take over our nation's dancefloors, Illuminated will also be releasing a new 23 Skidoo LP and an album of Unreleased Throbbing Gristle material some of which comes from the short film which the group did with jubilee director Derek Jarman. All in an Illuminating end to '83.
